                              WORK IS DUE TO COMMENCE ON THE TOWER

                                                                              ON ST. GEORGE'S DAY - 23rd APRIL

Over the years, water, frost and wind have caused the render to fall away and the weather is now eating away at the exposed stone and original mortar joints. The stone buttresses supporting the tower are also cracking and need replacing.

Whilst scaffolding is in place it will be prudent to attend to other repair work including stone window surrounds and glazing, timber louvres to the bell tower, rainwater goods and other sundry works.
The tower is the oldest part of the church and dates back to the 15th century. Over the years the weather has taken its toll on the external stone walls and, despite an attempt to rectify its decline when a concrete render was applied over 50 years ago, it is now in a serious state.
